Senior Application Engineer- Fasteners

The Senior Application Engineer will deliver specialized engineering expertise in customer engagement and the application of fastener standards, ensuring optimal solutions and support for a diverse customer base.


Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through technical engagement.
  • Serve as a technical advisor to Purchasing, Quality, and Sales teams.
  • Diagnose and resolve customer application engineering issues, offering cost-effective solutions.
  • Provide engineering support for fastener design, testing, and manufacturing challenges.
  • Apply expert knowledge of fastener standards including ISO, DIN, and ANSI.
  • Review and verify customer prints and specifications for accuracy.
  • Utilize experience in heading, forming, and coating processes to support product development.
  • Conduct field testing and provide hands-on support for customer product applications
  • Help Quality department in review of PPAP documentation
  • Perform VAVE and Lessons Learned activities
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Engineering Co-op and Intern Management


Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or equivalent experience. 
  • MS in Engineering or Business a plus.
  • Must have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Strong technical communication skills for customer-facing interactions
  • In-depth understanding of fastener manufacturing processes
  • Expertise in industrial and mechanical fastener applications
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Inventor or similar design software
  • Skilled in 2D drawing interpretation, GD&T, and blueprint reading
  • Knowledge of material properties and coating specifications
  • Familiarity with testing and validation standards
  • Comprehensive understanding of global fastener standards (ANSI, ASTM, DIN, ISO)
  • Analytical and quality control capabilities (e.g., SPC, First Piece Inspection, Process Flow)
  • Experience with P21 ERP system for parts creation and inventory management
  • Conduct product testing as needed, including torque testing, hydrogen embrittlement testing, and part layout verification.
  • Microsoft products (Word, Office, TEAMs, Excel, Project)


Training Requirements:

  • General safety procedures and protocols
  • Awareness and understanding of the company’s quality system
  • Training in quoting, purchasing, and sales processes.
  • Product knowledge: nuts, bolts, screws, rivets, coatings, and adhesives
  • Familiarity with engineering tools and methodologies: DFMEAs, DVPs, testing, control plans, PPAP, and VAVE


Work Environment:

  • Work performed in office environment with shop, warehouse, test house, customer visits as needed.
  • Exposed to various manufacturing, shipping, testing, and storage elements, equipment, chemicals, and supplies.

 

Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned

Will be expected to travel to Cincinnati, OH area 1-2 weeks a month

6-9 month contract position
