About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Tool Designer to join our engineering and manufacturing team in Merritt Island, Florida. This position focuses on the creation of complex tooling and fixture designs that support aerospace and advanced manufacturing programs.
The ideal candidate has at least five years of hands-on experience in 3D modeling, 2D detailing, and mechanical design using CREO or CATIA software. This is a design-execution role — the Tool Designer works closely with engineers to transform requirements and concepts into manufacturable tooling models and drawings
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D and 2D tooling designs using CREO or CATIA, following customer and internal standards.
- Create and maintain fully detailed drawings (.drw or .CATDrawing) with accurate GD&T and revision control.
- Translate engineering requirements and CONOPs (Concept of Operations) into manufacturable tooling models.
- Deliver complete CAD data packages, including native files, neutral formats, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure models reflect verified loads, fits, and functional requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback efficiently while maintaining model integrity.
- Ensure all design work complies with proprietary data-handling requirements and company quality standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in tool, jig, or fixture design for aerospace, automotive, or advanced manufacturing.
- Proficient with PTC CREO (preferred) or CATIA V5/V6.
- Strong knowledge of 3D modeling, 2D drafting, GD&T, and data management standards.
- Ability to interpret engineering sketches, load conditions, and design specifications.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency may be required for certain programs.
Preferred Experience
- Background in aerospace, defense, or high-precision manufacturing environments.
- Experience with design reviews, data release processes, and configuration control.
